ms societyThis coming friday (February 1), I am hosting a beer and food pairing evening as a fundraiser for the Multiple Sclerosis society. It is being co-sponsored by my community league, Riverdale, and  organized directly by me and a neighbour. Initial marketing and sales were to people in the neighbourhood, to make it a community thing. As it works out we still have some tickets available, and so in the interests of maximizing what we can raise for MS, I am opening the opportunity to onbeer.org readers.

Here are the details:

Onbeer Food and Beer Pairing
Friday, February 1, 7:00 – 9:00 pm
Riverdale Community League Hall (9231 — 100 Avenue)
Tickets: $25 each

My plan is to  pair beer with taste portions of four different foods (note: it is not dinner, just taste portions). All the food is from local producers and I think I have come up with some inspired matches. I am tempted to tantalize you with the menu, but I think the surprise is half the fun. There will be a cash bar as well, where people can buy full bottles of the beer on offer, as well as some other Alley Kat product.

It is intended to be a casual, friendly affair. I will offer some observations about the pairings and toss in some interesting stories about beer. All funds will go directly to the MS society – I am donating my time and energy and the breweries and food suppliers have been wonderfully generous in reducing their rates so we can maximize the amount going to the MS Society.

So, if you are interested, email me at beerguy [at] telus.net with your information and how many tickets you would like. We will arrange ticket and payment details privately. Tickets will be sold on a first-come-first serve basis until we are sold out. Please: NO WALKUPS on Friday. If you want to come, you need to tell me in advance (it just gets too complicated otherwise).

I am looking forward to the event, and hope that some of you can make it.
