Edmonton’s first (of what I hope will be many) beer dinners has been announced, and it has a (honourary) prairie theme. The hearty folks at Yukon Brewing will be pulling their dog sleds (full of beer, I hope) southward to make a stop at the Urban Diner II on 109 Street for a five-course beer pairing dinner on Friday February 25.

Yukon and Urban Diner II have established a close relationship since the diner’s opening in the fall. Yukon is the only beer on tap (the only have one tap), and it has been (and will be, I am told) the location of occasional Alberta premieres of beer normally only available in Whitehorse. Urban’s sister restaurant, Manor Bistro, hosted a beer dinner last year with Charles Finkel of Pike Brewing.

As for the dinner, the courses will be made with various Yukon beer and will be paired with an appropriate Yukon beer. Co-owner Bob Baxter will be on hand to host and generally be his warm, good-humoured and friendly self. I am told he will also have some kind of “announcement” that Alberta beer lovers will appreciate. Hmm…

Here are the details on the dinner:
